A juvenile is dead, and five others are injured after a shooting incident during a party at a short-term rental in Columbus, as reported by the Columbus Police Department. The property, located on the 800 block of Wilson Avenue, was hosting a gathering when the disturbance unfolded yesterday morning. NBC4i detailed that officers arrived at the scene around 2:41 a.m. after receiving a call about the shooting.
At the scene, police found three individuals with gunshot wounds. A further three victims walked into various hospitals for treatment, according to 10TV. The deceased juvenile was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center at 3:09 a.m. The other victims, consisting of one more juvenile and four adults, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The circumstances leading up to the violence remain unclear, though a disturbance during the party is thought to have preceded the shooting. Sgt. Joe Albert of the Columbus Police Department confirmed that the suspect appeared to arrive after the party had begun. As of now, police have not disclosed any information about the suspect or the motive behind the shooting.
