Jason Leonard Blount, 52, from Orlando, finds himself facing multiple counts of sexual battery for crimes that date back over 20 years. News4JAX reports that Blount's DNA, entered into the system following a recent robbery arrest, matched samples from the unsolved Jacksonville incidents.
Originally unsolved, the trio of attacks took place between 2000 and 2002, each case involving a different woman who were ambushed by Blount, then in his late 20s. First Coast News details how the first assault occurred when a victim was out jogging, the second saw a woman dragged from a parking lot, and in the final act, a woman was raped after Blount forced his way into her apartment under the pretense of borrowing a phone.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), through diligent work and modern forensic technology, made the connection after entering Blount's DNA into a national database. "Our hearts go out to the women Blount brutally victimized. We will work with the State Attorney’s Office to bring him the harshest punishment possible and make sure he doesn’t do this again," JSO conveyed in a sentiment reported by News4JAX.
