An Orlando community reels after a harrowing home invasion and sexual assault that occurred yesterday, culminating in the arrest of 26-year-old Wesley Hernandez Rios. WESH reported that, according to the Orlando Police Department, Rios allegedly broke into an apartment by damaging the screen door and prying open the sliding door, armed with a mask and a handgun. Once inside, he made his way to the victim's bedroom, restraining her and proceeding to assault her sexually.
The terrifying assault escalated when the attacker reportedly pressed a pillow over the victim’s mouth, making it hard for her to breathe. The ordeal ended only when law enforcement arrived, prompting Rios to try to flee. He attempted to get into his vehicle but was quickly confronted, and after a short chase, he was arrested by the police. It was later revealed that Rios had known the victim for several months.
In the wake of the incident, Rios faces multiple serious charges, including sexual battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of a dwelling with a firearm, attempted homicide, false imprisonment with a weapon, and resisting an officer without violence, as detailed by WFTV.
