Palmdale residents and visitors looking for a splashy adventure have cause to celebrate. DryTown Water Park, the desert's oasis of family fun, is gearing up for a significant boost in attractions. A new slide tower promises an adrenaline rush with three distinct experiences: a Pool Sider, an enclosed AquaTube, and the thrill-seeker's dream, the Freefall. The expansion was unanimously approved by the City Council on June 3, with Mayor Richard J. Loa championing the effort to enhance local recreation and tourism.
Construction on the new feature is slated to start later this year, according to a statement by the City of Palmdale. With its planned opening in the summer of 2026, the slide tower is a key part of Palmdale's Parks and Recreation Master Plan, designed to prioritize updates to facilities highly favored by the community. DryTown, as per the plan completed in 2024, holds the title of most beloved facility in the city's parks system, as told by the local youth.
"This is another exciting milestone for Palmdale," Mayor Richard J. Loa said. "We are proud to invest in recreational amenities that create memorable experiences for our families and support our growing community. The new slide tower will not only boost tourism, but also provide a safe, inclusive environment for fun." This move aligns with the city's mission of bolstering community bonds through high-quality entertainment and supporting economic growth.
Adding to the enthusiasm, Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt remarked on the park's importance to Palmdale. "DryTown is one of our City’s treasures, and this new addition makes it even better," she told the City of Palmdale. The project's emphasis on sustainability and community enrichment is reflective of the city's values, aiming to create more opportunities for families to bond.
