
A pedestrian lost their life yesterday after an encounter with a Houston METRO bus in downtown Houston turned fatal. According to a report by Click2Houston, the incident occurred near the intersection of Travis Street and Prairie Street around 6:35 a.m. Houston Police Department officials have confirmed the timing of the tragic event.
First responders, having arrived at the scene, found the pedestrian on the roadway close to a bus stop past the intersection, where they were pronounced dead. Details regarding the identity of the victim remain undisclosed as of now.
A different angle of the situation has been reported by KHOU 11 News, suggesting that the pedestrian, identified as a male, might have been within a crosswalk at the moment of impact. According to a METRO spokesperson in a statement obtained by KHOU 11 News, "preliminary information suggests the man was in a crosswalk at the time of the incident," although the specifics of the situation continue to be investigated.
While the sequence of events that led up to the crash is yet to be fully understood, METRO has made it clear that an investigation is actively in progress. The bus involved was number 5843, traveling northbound, when the accident occurred. As of now, no further information about the bus driver or any other factors contributing to the incident has been made public.
