As noted in a recent post by the Philadelphia Fire Department, students have embarked on the ride-along segment of their training, closely shadowing EMS professionals to gain hands-on experience.
These young individuals are to directly engage with the things they've been learning in the classroom, applying their skills in real-world scenarios. This transition from theory to practice is not just a rite of passage but a crucial step in their journey to becoming certified EMTs. "They've just began the ride-along portion of the curriculum, where they get hands-on experience with EMS providers to learn about pre-hospital care," the fire department stated enthusiastically about the program.
With over a month left in their training, the students are rapidly approaching the culmination of their hard work: the National Registry EMT exam. Sacrificing summer leisure for the pursuit of lifesaving acumen, these students epitomize commitment and the city's investment in its own resilience.
The Philadelphia Fire Department has not withheld its support or admiration for these up-and-coming first responders. Their social media message was less an announcement, more a rallying cry, affirming, "To all the students: we're proud of you and cheering you on every step of the way!"
