A fiery calamity struck a Phoenix apartment complex late Saturday night, leaving one man in critical condition and a woman with injuries. The Phoenix Fire Department was called to the scene near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road at around 10:30 p.m., where firefighters encountered a blazing inferno in the second story of an apartment building, according to ABC 15.
As they battled the fire, "crews from the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the fire," ABC 15 reports. The man was taken to a local burn center, his condition deemed critical, while the woman was transported in stable condition. Three residents have been left without a home in the fire's aftermath, and assistance programs are stepping in to help them navigate the sudden upheaval.
Investigative teams are currently sifting through the ashes in an effort to uncover the origin of the fire, as the cause is still unknown. Thankfully, despite the violence of the flames, the firefighters emerged unscathed. "According to the Phoenix Fire Department, there were no injuries to firefighters," AZ Family affirmed.
