
Chaos unfolded in Phoenix as two separate instances of vehicle-related crimes were reported by local authorities, first, a man identified as Benjamin Frey, 38, caused disruption when he allegedly crashed a car, attempted to steal another, and after an unsuccessful attempt, managed to steal a different vehicle before crashing again on July 26, as FOX 10 Phoenix reported.
The incident reportedly started near I-17 and Union Hills Road at about 6 p.m., where after the initial crash, Frey fled to a nearby neighborhood and while trying but failing to steal the first car he assaulted the vehicle's owner then succeeded in stealing another car from a residence before crashing near Loop 101 and 59th Avenue, where he was apprehended, "Minor injuries were involved in the final collision and the attempted robbery of the first vehicle in Phoenix," said Phoenix Police, adding that "None of these injuries required a transport to a hospital."
Meanwhile, on the same day, a woman was victimized following a crash when she was reportedly confronted by multiple individuals and had her car stolen at gunpoint; the incident occurred around 10 p.m. near 63rd Avenue and Indian School Road, according to AZFamily.
About an hour after the armed robbery incident, police discovered the stolen vehicle and the teen behind the wheel about five miles away after he was involved in another collision, following which he attempted to flee on foot but was ultimately detained and arrested. He faces multiple charges as the investigation proceeds.
