A Phoenix teenager is facing serious charges after a family argument turned tragic at a gathering last month. Victor Donovan Morales, born January 2007, was indicted on multiple charges including second degree murder, aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons, in connection to the shooting that resulted in the death of his own father and the wounding of his mother. This announcement was made by Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, according to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office.
The indictment came after the Phoenix Police were quickly to respond to a 911 call about a shooting at a residence near 7th Street and Dobbins Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered Morales' father had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and later succumbed to these injuries. Morales' mother was also found with a gunshot wound to her arm. The police found a rifle in the backyard of the home as well as a bullet casing of the same caliber near the body of Morales' father, as presented in the indictment details published on the Maricopa County Attorney's Office official website.
With the indictment, Morales is facing a long list of charges, which alongside second degree murder include one count of aggravated assault and two counts of disorderly conduct, all classified as a Dangerous Felony and Domestic Violence Offense. Additionally, there is another separate count of disorderly conduct and two counts of misconduct involving weapons, classified as a Class Four Felony. Following the indictment, a judge has set Morales' bond at one million dollars, with a secured appearance, as reported by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office. The authorities are taking the situation seriously, and Morales is scheduled to go on trial in November.
