In a striking display of self-preservation, a man in Pittsburgh's Bedford Dwellings neighborhood, after having been shot in the chest, took it upon himself to drive directly to a local police station. The incident occurred last night around 7:45 p.m., prompting a response from law enforcement upon receiving a ShotSpotter alert signaling four gunshots on the 2500 block of Chauncy Drive, according to a report by WPXI.
While police were en route to investigate, the victim, enduring a critical wound, quite possibly driven by adrenaline and survival instinct, managed to reach the Zone 2 police station on Centre Avenue quickly. As per official statements, medics were called to the police station from where the injured man was then transported to a local hospital, listed in critical condition.
Furthermore, the Pittsburgh police have commenced a thorough investigation into the shooting. The suspect, as of now, remains at large, believed to have hastily fled the shooting scene in a vehicle. "License plate readers last saw it heading north toward the McKees Rocks area," detailed a report by TribLIVE. This piece of information may prove to be a crucial lead in the manhunt for the shooter.
