A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in Pittsburgh's Middle Hill neighborhood, an incident that unfolded yesterday. A ShotSpotter alert, recording a total of 11 rounds, prompted police to respond to the 300 block of Addison Street around 1 AM, where they found the teenager with gunshot wounds, according to WPXI.
First responders attempted life-saving measures on the scene, but despite their efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries, which included gunshots to the head, chest, and right arm. Paramedics declared him deceased shortly thereafter. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Kevin McKinzie from East Hills.
Investigators are actively reviewing all available CCTV footage in an attempt to piece together the events that led to McKinzie's death. The Mobile Crime Unit was also dispatched to process the crime scene for evidence. As detailed by WTAE, the Pittsburgh Police Violence Crime Unit has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation.
