A 60-year-old Plymouth woman, Susanne Renee Stephens Moe, was rescued from a burning vehicle after a crash in rural Mankato, according to a post by the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office. Moe's Buick LaCrosse veered off South Bend Avenue and Pintail Street, becoming trapped between trees and igniting.

Law enforcement and first responders from multiple agencies, including the Mankato Department of Public Safety and Lake Crystal Police Department, collaborated to save the driver who was found unconscious. They used a tow rope to move the vehicle and extinguishers to control the flames, enabling them to reach Moe. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident, and although charges are pending, they await the results from chemical testing.

After being extracted from the car that had caught fire on July 3, at approximately 6:33 pm, Moe was transported to MCHS in Mankato. The injuries sustained were reported as non-life-threatening. Off-duty members of the South Bend Fire Department, who happened to be at the nearby Minneopa Golf Course, played a critical role in the timely assistance provided to Moe.

According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office's social media update, additional support was provided by personnel from the Mayo Ambulance and the State Patrol. The quick intervention by first responders and golfers illustrates the community's promptness in crisis situations, MTCS in Mankato is providing care for the injured driver, while further investigations into the crash take place.
