A dramatic shootout in Berclair has led to a high-speed police chase ending in Southaven, Mississippi, resulting in critical injuries and multiple detentions. The Memphis Police Department responded to a shooting incident on Monday evening, where one victim was left in critical condition while another sustained non-critical injuries. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at a Smile Mart within a strip mall on Waring Road, according to Action News 5.
The first victim, hit by gunfire, was immediately transported to a local hospital, fighting for his life. While treating the incident, officers located the suspects' vehicle and initiated a pursuit when the driver refused to comply with a traffic stop. The chase coursed through the city and into neighboring Mississippi before it came to a halting conclusion. "MPD detained all three suspects without incident when their car came to a stop in Southaven at Swinnea Road near Charter Oak Drive," reported Action News 5.
The details were corroborated by another report from WREG, which added that the chase ended at 86 Swinnea Road in Southaven. MPD has taken three individuals into custody, and an investigation is currently underway to uncover the motives and circumstances surrounding the shootout.
