A 39-year-old man from Ponte Vedra, Kevin Patrick Wilson, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for attempting to entice a minor into sexual activities. Wilson, who struck a guilty plea on March 12, 2025, fell into the untenable snares of law enforcement after presenting himself as a tutor capable of unspeakable harm, as disclosed by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.
The case severed open when Wilson, under the guise of a female on social media, nudged the original poster to reach out to him for tutoring services, and during the ensuing text exchange with the poster, who was looking for help for an 11-year-old child, Wilson not only sent his picture but also requested one of the child, though the conversation halted soon after that initial interaction, the suspicious poster promptly contacted the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Following this report, on July 24, 2024, an undercover detective impersonating the child's guardian made contact with Wilson and the conversation lethally turned to sexual topics and plans to engage in illicit acts the very evening, leading to Wilson's arrest upon his arrival at the designated meeting spot.
Wilson's apprehension and subsequent conviction stem from a concerted operation among the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Jacksonville division; further legal action was led by Assistant United States Attorney Ashley Washington, "according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
