A tragic event unfolded over the Fourth of July weekend in Port Orchard, where a father and his 9-year-old daughter perished in a house fire. According to KING5, Kitsap County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the incident after a distressing 911 call from one of the residents around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Crews arrived at the scene to find the home completely engulfed in flames, as reported by KIRO 7. The blaze presented significant challenges, prompting fire officials to quickly deploy multiple water tenders in an effort to combat the flames effectively. The limited water pressure from nearby fire hydrants has been cited as one contributory factor in the dire outcome of the incident.
The Kitsap County Fire Marshal and Kitsap County Sheriff's Office detectives are currently leading an investigation into the deaths and the cause of the fire. The victims have been identified by family as Carlin Sheedy and his daughter, Jayden Sheedy. In the wake of this tragic event, the family has begun to start a donation fund to cover funeral expenses, detailed in a report by KOMO News.
