Two individuals are currently facing serious charges following a traffic stop by Portland police that led to a sizeable drug seizure. As reported by KGW, Mykell A. Bru, 37, and Luella T. Asuluk, 39, were arrested last Thursday. Officers initially suspected fentanyl use, but after arresting the individuals, they discovered an additional 14.1 pounds of marijuana, ammunition, and a replica firearm in the possession of the suspects.
After their arrest, police offered deflection services, and both individuals agreed to be taken to a center, according to KOIN. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a brown shipping box containing marijuana in the back seat.
The traffic stop occurred in Portland and led to the seizure of marijuana exceeding Oregon’s legal possession limits by more than 16 times, turning the offense into a felony, according to KATU. State law permits over 8 ounces for private use and over 2 ounces in public, but the amount found in the vehicle surpassed these thresholds significantly.
