The Portland Police Bureau is turning to the public for help in identifying a suspect accused of committing a biased hate crime against a Northeast Portland business known for its Jewish cultural ties. According to an official report from the Portland Police Bureau, the incident occurred on June 14, 2025, when an unidentified male vandalized the business located on the 2700 block of Northeast Broadway Street.
In what the reporting employee believes to be a deliberate act of hatred, the suspect approached at approximately 1:30 a.m., spewed profanities, and drew a swastika on the door frame before departing. This isn't the first act of hostility directed at the business; previously in November, a menorah was stolen from its display, and a Pride flag has been consistently featured outside, accentuating concerns over the suspect's motives.
The PPB is handling the incident with severity, and their Major Crimes Team has commenced an exhaustive investigation into the crime. Recognizing the gravity of bias crimes and their impact on communities, the bureau is disseminating photos of the alleged perpetrator to facilitate his identification and ensure justice is served. They urge anyone with information to step forward and contact them at [email protected], citing case number 25-160565.
"PPB takes reports of bias crimes and hate-based incidents seriously," reads a statement from the bureau.
