Authorities in Lake County have provided a presumptive identification for human remains found in the Ocala National Forest as those of Michael Connell, a man reported missing since May 29. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office updated the public via social media, stating that the remains were located after Connell's bike was discovered several days prior.
Connell, described as a 5′9″ white male with green eyes and short blonde hair, last seen wearing a brown camo jacket and dark blue cargo pants, had a broken leg at the time of his disappearance as a result of a vehicle accident, along with being known for his regular visits to the Umatilla Library his bike was found at Kismet Rd and CR-445, exactly where he went missing, details WFTV.
The ongoing investigation into how Connell ended up in the forest and the circumstances surrounding his death is active, and authorities have ensured that further details will be released as they become available, the sheriff’s office indicated, without providing information on potential causes of death or any suspected foul play.
