During the stop, the deputy immediately noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle driven by the suspect, Kevin Johnson, and asked Johnson to exit his car, which he did; following that, the deputy's K9 partner conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle and exhibited a change in behavior near the driver's side door, the deputy carried out a search and discovered an assortment of illegal substances including 70.6 grams of methamphetamine, 17.7 grams of heroin, and 9.4 grams of fentanyl, along with cash and additional drug paraphernalia.

Johnson's arrest led to charges that include three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of a restraining order violation, also he faces charges related to the initial traffic violation, as reported by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, Johnson was booked into the Pueblo County Jail where he is currently being held.
