Ramsey County Juvenile Probation has announced it will be hosting not just one, but two summer community events this year, dedicated to celebrating and empowering justice-impacted youth. The first event, "Voices of Resilience: A Community Storytelling Event," is scheduled for July 16, as mentioned in a recent announcement by the county. The event aims to spotlight the transformative stories of young individuals who have navigated the justice system, focusing on themes of healing, truth-telling, and community connection.
Following the storytelling event, the "Youth Explosion: A Community Celebration" is set to take place on August 16, leveling up the engagement from the previous year by expanding into a full afternoon of activities. The event celebrates the accomplishments of youth on probation. Designed to create lasting memories, the event will feature youth-led art, interactive activities, and a Community Champions Youth Awards Ceremony. Set to be held at the Duluth and Case Recreation Center, Youth Explosion promises to foster dignity and accountability in a youth-centered environment.
The efforts put forth by the Ramsey County Juvenile Probation are backed by the RECEAT team, playing a crucial role in ensuring these events carry a racial equity lens, as per the information shared by the county. Making sure that youths from different backgrounds feel seen and supported, the RECEAT team comprises Ramsey County’s Community Corrections Racial Equity Community Engagement Action Team, a vital partner in these community-driven initiatives.
