A dog in Rancho Cordova named Ruby received care from Rancho Cordova Animal Services after losing 60 pounds in a month. The assistance was provided through the Animal Services Assistance Program, which is funded by a grant from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, according to the City of Rancho Cordova.
Ruby received exploratory surgery through aid from Animal Services Assistance Program, which her owner could not afford alone. Veterinarians found several inches of fake leather material blocking her intestines. Without the surgery, her condition could have become life-threatening, as reported by the City of Rancho Cordova.
