Last month, the City of Rancho Cordova held its Good Neighbor Day event at White Rock Community Park in the White Rock neighborhood. The event was part of an outreach effort to provide city services directly to residents. Activities included face painting, balloon art, use of the splash park, and free bike repairs, offering options for attendees of various ages, according to the city's announcement.
Attendees not only received services like bike repairs and face painting but also had access to free BBQ and Halal food. Approximately 300 people attended the event, gaining information about city resources and services available in Rancho Cordova. In a statement from the City of Rancho Cordova, Community Engagement Coordinator Matt Buland stated, "On the Community Engagement team, the best part of my job is engaging with residents and connecting them with the information they might need." Last months event also included conversations between residents, community organizations, and city staff about recent local developments, such as newly planted trees from Spring Service Day and a planned dog park set to open in the near future.
In addition to providing direct access to city resources and updates, Good Neighbor Day also reflected Rancho Cordova's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility by offering services, activities, and food options that accommodated the community’s diverse population. The recent community engagement event in the White Rock neighborhood is part of an ongoing effort to support the city’s livability and to promote active resident involvement in shaping their local environment.
Planning is underway for the next Good Neighbor Day event, scheduled for the fall, with the Community Engagement team coordinating efforts to bring residents and city representatives together for another outreach opportunity.
