Heads up, drivers and local commuters: the construction work on Sunrise Boulevard continues to roll out, and some changes are unfolding that could impact your travel plans. Phase Two is inching closer to its conclusion with noticeable improvements from Douglas Road to White Rock Road. As reported by the City of Rancho Cordova, this stretch is getting a facelift with new pavement, landscaped medians, curbs, and ADA-compliant curb ramps. Additionally, flooding concerns are being addressed with drainage upgrades at Mechanical Drive and Recycle Road.
Moving ahead, Phase Three is getting off the ground and is setting sights on elevating the experience from Douglas Road to Kiefer Boulevard. Travelers can anticipate not only fresh pavement but also improved drainage systems and new pedestrian signals for those traversing on foot. While the paving itself is slated for later this summer, other preliminary construction activities are already buzzing around the area. And as Rancho Cordova's Public Works projects indicate, all lights are green for completion by Fall 2025, according to the City of Rancho Cordova.
Drivers should expect possible delays and allow extra travel time. Use caution and slow down in construction areas. To stay updated on detours and roadwork, check the City of Rancho Cordova’s website.
