Yolo County officials continue recovery efforts following the Oakdale fire, which began with an explosion at a pyrotechnics facility near Esparto. The remains of seven individuals who were previously missing have been found. The Yolo County Coroner’s Division is working on identifying them, according to the Yolo County.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and complicated by explosive materials at the site. CAL FIRE’s Arson and Bomb Investigation Unit is working with regional bomb squads and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Response Team, with the Esparto Fire Protection District overseeing efforts. Yolo County is offering support services through its Mental Health Crisis Line, the Sheriff's Dispatch for non-emergency help, and the District Attorney's Victim Services Program.
“We extend our deepest concern to those impacted and our thoughts remain especially with the families of the seven individuals still unaccounted for,” said District 5 Supervisor Angel Barajas, as mentioned by Hoodline. Emergency crews continue to respond, and PG&E is working on utility issues. Residents are asked to avoid evacuation zones to help keep rescue efforts moving.
