Women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces have an upcoming opportunity to connect and access resources dedicated specifically for them, as registration is now open for the 2025 Oregon Women Veterans Conference. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the Riverhouse Lodge in Bend, according to information from the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs. It's worth noting that this year's gathering is picking up where the pandemic left off, taking up the previously intended location from the canceled 2020 event.
The conference, which is completely free for all attendees, does require pre-registration for participation. It's not only a hub for resources and recognition, but also presents a space for networking and storytelling by those who have worn the uniform. "This year’s theme, ‘Stronger Together: Community and Connection,’ reflects the heart of what this conference is all about," states Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels, the director of the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs. She underlined the significance of unity and support for women who have served.
Originating nearly three decades ago, the Oregon Women Veterans Conference emerged from a grassroots movement led by a small collective of women veterans seeking networking and support. It has since evolved into a state-tailored assembly that provides not only camaraderie but also guidance on the benefits to which women veterans are entitled.
Adding to the roster of privileges, the keynote speaker for this conference is Erin McMahon, touted for her exemplary service record as a retired U.S. Army brigadier general and director of the Oregon Department of Emergency Management. Her experience includes a noteworthy stretch as principal deputy general counsel for the National Guard Bureau, where she advised on numerous domestic disaster responses, cementing her role as a trailblazing figure in the Office of the General Counsel.
The conference is poised to uphold its tradition of empowerment, providing a platform for women veterans to not only link with resources but also to inspire and encourage each other through shared experiences. Activities will range from workshops and speeches to networking opportunities, all tailored to foster growth and success post-military life.
