Bringing new life to the former Walmart location at Timmerman Plaza, the Common Council has endorsed a plan that sets the stage for Restaurant Depot to establish a presence in the community. Through the adoption of file #250150 yesterday, July 15, the Council has amended the zoning permissions to incorporate indoor wholesale and distribution as a part of the permissible activities at the 10330 W. Silver Spring Dr. site, opening doors for economic growth and employment opportunities.

2nd District Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. has expressed his anticipation for the positive effects expected from this development. "When Walmart left the Timmerman Plaza site in 2023, we started looking for the right partner to take over that space and provide a boost for the district," Chambers explained, as documented by the City of Milwaukee. “I’m glad that Restaurant Depot will open up their newest store at this site and provide several dozen jobs in the process. We also have other plans in the works to enhance the offerings at Timmerman Plaza, and I look forward to sharing more details about that in the future.”

The advancement of this project did not come without extensive cooperation from various parties. Alderman Chambers recognized the collaborative spirit demonstrated throughout this process and gave a nod to his colleagues and city departments that were instrumental in reaching this point. “I want to thank the Department of City Development for their work on this, as well as my colleague Alderman Lamont Westmoreland, who was also a tremendous partner on this front,” Chambers told the City of Milwaukee.
