
Palatka, Florida was the scene of a road rage incident last Friday that left two people injured and led to one man being charged with murder following a shooting and a subsequent vehicle crash. According to the Palatka Police Department, the altercation occurred around 5:46 a.m. at the intersection of Crill Avenue and Laurel Street, as reported by First Coast News. The incident led to a white truck colliding with the sign of Little Sprouts Learning Center, though the establishment was confirmed to have no involvement in the event.
Assistant Police Chief Matt Newcomb described the scene, where officers found the truck crashed and met the two shooting victims, who were promptly sent to the hospital for their injuries. The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Justin Mullens, remained at the scene and was taken into custody by the officers, according to a report by Action News Jax.
The reason for the dispute between the motorists, which escalated to gunfire and the consequent crash, remains under investigation. Though the names of the victims have not been disclosed, their hospitalization was necessary due to the gravity of their injuries.
