In a crackdown on underground gambling rings igniting concerns across Sacramento, local law enforcement brought a Florin Road home’s clandestine operation to a halt. On Wednesday, FOX40 reported that three individuals faced felony charges following the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office’s raid on the residential property, with an additional person arrested on misdemeanor counts and two more cited for misdemeanor narcotics possession.
During the operation that was led by the Sheriff’s Central Division Problem-Oriented Policing team, officers uncovered a loaded unserialized handgun, also known as a "ghost gun", and seized roughly $2,000 in cash. Executed with the support of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT), the raid pointed to Ervin Durham, Ryk Hayward, Rafael Diaz Ayon, Richard Alfaro, Eduardo LucioMaldonado, and Rosalina Velasco as the individuals implicated in the illegal gambling operation, as detailed by a social media post from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Office outlined the charges: Ervin Durham was arrested for PC 24610, 25850, and HS 11370.1; Ryk Hayward was arrested for PC 337(a); Rafael Diaz Ayon was detained based on an out-of-county felony warrant; and Richard Alfaro, facing misdemeanor warrants, was arrested in the search. The warrant at a residential property regarding an illegal gambling operation was executed by the Sheriff’s Central Division Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) team.
The raid represents the ongoing efforts by the Sheriff’s office to address the illicit operations, signaling a continued engagement with the issue of illegal gambling and related criminal activities. As the case proceeds through the judicial system, further details will likely emerge, painting a clearer picture of the illegal gambling undercurrent in Sacramento.
