A Sacramento firefighter was injured on Monday evening while helping a person during a mental health emergency. The incident happened around 8:45 p.m. at Arcade Boulevard and Rio Linda Boulevard. The firefighter was giving medical aid to someone with serious bleeding when the person attacked them. The firefighter was taken to a trauma center and was in stable condition by 10:30 p.m., as reported by KCRA. One person was detained. The firefighter's name and the extent of the injuries have not been shared.
"The firefighter was rendering aid for serious bleeding to the patient when they were attacked," stated the Sacramento Fire Department, describing the incident as a violent turn during a rescue effort, as per KCRA. The suspect’s name has not yet been released, and Sacramento Police have been contacted for more details, according to CBS News Sacramento.
