Police were called around 1:30 a.m. after a man reportedly threatened to kill his roommate during a dispute. When officers arrived, they saw the man holding a sword and tried to de-escalate the situation. He did not drop the weapon and moved toward the officers, as mentioned by KCRA.
ABC10 reported that Sacramento Police and crisis negotiators tried to get an armed suspect to drop his weapon. "Our officers, in addition to our crisis negotiators, negotiated with that suspect for quite some time in an effort to get him to drop the weapon, but he refused to do that," Sgt. Dan Wiseman said. "At one point, he advanced toward our officers, and at that time an officer involved shooting occurred." The suspect was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No officers were hurt. Police are talking to neighbors and checking surveillance footage as the investigation continues.
