A man was arrested in Sacramento following a three-hour standoff with deputies. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said 27-year-old Yashdeep Singh is facing several charges. Deputies responded just after 8 a.m. to reports of vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon. K9 Philbert was also at the scene.
Singh reportedly barricaded himself inside a home and threatened to kill people and stab deputies if the Sheriff's Office did not leave. Authorities set up a perimeter, evacuated nearby residents, and tried to contact him. At one point, Singh went onto the roof. As the situation continued, the Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail and Critical Incident Negotiators were called in to help, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Singh was arrested after refusing to surrender during a standoff with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page, "Multiple other residents were inside the house, and the suspect refused to exit, going onto the roof, while making threats to kill people, and stab Deputies if the Sheriff’s Office didn’t leave." Deputies used K9 Philbert and less-lethal tools to take him into custody. The Sheriff's Office stated that the actions were taken to "keep the public safe, and provide rescue to the occupants inside the home." Singh was medically cleared at a hospital and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, criminal threats, vandalism, and resisting arrest.
