Salisbury is gearing up for a community-centric celebration that couples educational readiness with an emphasis on strengthening law enforcement partnerships. The city is set to host a dual event with the annual National Night Out festivities, which will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, starting 6 p.m. at Bell Tower Green. This year, the event will also include a Back-to-School Community Resource Fair, according to an announcement on Salisbury's official governmental website.
The Community Resource Fair aims to be a one-stop-shop for families prepping for the upcoming school year, with agencies offering insights into health, education, addiction, and family support all in attendance. As an added benefit, students who come with their parents or guardians will have a shot at snagging backpacks filled with school supplies, until the supply inevitably dwindles, the city's newsroom reported. The initiation into academics will be accompanied by edibles as food will be served.
This communal affair is not solely about the children and their back-to-school needs; information on senior services will, also be available to guide the elder demographic. This inclusive approach speaks to the broader mission of the National Night Out — an event founded in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch.
