San Antonio law enforcement is currently probing the circumstances surrounding a body that was discovered floating in the downtown section of the San Antonio River, popularly known for the bustling River Walk attractions. Per a report from KSAT, the body was first noticed by a passerby on Monday, around midday, in the vicinity of the 100 block of Villita Street, which lies near Main Plaza - a stone's throw from several of the city’s major attractions.

The San Antonio Police Department stated that the deceased individual is an adult male, but the age and identity were unknown as of the latest updates. There were no apparent signs of trauma found on the body. Meanwhile, an unidentified resident conveyed to KSAT in an interview, "It’s pretty scary. As murky as (the river) is already, you don’t know what’s going on down there." The resident's comments underscore a concern about the potential hazards that the river may conceal.

According to a follow-up by FOX San Antonio, emergency response teams were summoned and the San Antonio Fire Department assisted in retrieving the body from the river. The Bexar County Medical Examiner has since taken custody of the body and is in the process of identifying the victim and establishing the cause of death.

The San Antonio Police Department Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, which is standard even when foul play isn’t clear. It’s still unknown if the San Antonio River, where the body was found, will reveal what happened, as per FOX San Antonio.
