It's that time of year again in San Antonio's District 1, folks—kids are gearing up for school, and the local community is coming together to give them a running start. The annual Back-to-School Bash, now in its third year, is all set to roll out a day full of free supplies, fun, and educational resources. According to the City of San Antonio's announcement, the event, hosted by Councilmember Dr. Sukh Kaur in partnership with Senator Jose Menendez, Representative Diego Bernal, and Commissioner Justin Rodriguez, promises to be a day of community and preparation ahead of the new school season.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and make your way to Edison High School on 701 Santa Monica St., where the bash will take place. There's no cover charge—this event is purely for the benefit of the students and their families in the district. They can look forward to free backpacks, school supplies, and access to local resources aimed at ensuring a smooth transition back into the academic year. Not to mention, there's going to be music and kid-centric activities to keep the young ones engaged and entertained.
According to the City of San Antonio, Councilmember Dr. Sukh Kaur expressed pride in continuing the annual Back-to-School Bash tradition, saying, "We're proud to continue this tradition that was started by Representative Diego Bernal years ago when they were the District 1 Councilmember." The event aims to support students and families in District 1 as they prepare for the new school year, providing supplies and community activities.
As per the City of San Antonio, District 1, or the "Corazon de San Antonio," is determined to set its children and families up for success, with the generous backing of community partners and sponsors. Special nods of appreciation go to Astound Broadband, Methodist Healthcare, San Antonio Apartment Association, SWBC, Frost Bank, and iHeart Media for their support.
