The fire prompted evacuations within the immediate vicinity as emergency responders worked to control the situation. As is often the case in these incidents, the authorities advised the public to avoid the area entirely while first responders labored to manage the scenario that confronted them effectively. The fire was subsequently contained to one apartment unit on the second floor of the building.
In an update from the San Francisco Fire Department, the fire at 1201 Golden Gate Avenue is now declared under control. "This incident resulted in one rescue and one injury, and one resident has been displaced," stated the SFFDPIO in their briefing. All residents who were temporarily evacuated have since been allowed to return to their homes.
