The fire specifically engulfed a pile of metal scraps; hence, firefighters were deployed with aerial master streams and large-diameter attack lines to combat the deep-seated fire, which needed several hours of relentless work. Traffic in the area was affected, with Stone Ave being impacted, so people were advised to steer clear of the area.
The department's updates indicated that two engines, one truck, and one battalion chief were among the emergency units at the scene, consistent with standard operating procedures for this industrial fire incident.
