
The San José Fire Department (SJFD) successfully contained a wildland fire on Tuesday evening in the vicinity of Hellyer Ave. and Silicon Valley Blvd. The blaze, which initially covered a modest area, had grown to encompass around 30 acres by the evening. Local fire crews were dispatched following fire reports, with the time of call (TOC) recorded at 6:00 PM.
According to a social media post by the San José Fire Department, the response was swiftly escalated to a Tier 3. This indicates a significant resource increase following an update at 6:53 PM, suggesting the fire had managed to jump across Silicon Valley Blvd. As reinforcement, CAL FIRE SCU was called to support the efforts. As a result, rush hour traffic was affected, and the public was advised to steer clear of the area to ease the movement of emergency vehicles.

Despite the rapid spread of the fire early in the evening, controlling measures taken by the firefighters paid off. By 8:30 PM, SJFD announced that the fire's advance had been halted, revealing also that there had been no property damage or injuries as a result of the incident. Mop-up operations were underway quickly after the containment announcement to prevent any possible resurgence of the flames.
