A San Marcos man, Aiden Dwyer, 24, has been arrested on charges related to a fire that broke out at Savage’s Bar and Grill in Wimberley, as confirmed by a statement from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office. KXAN reports that the arrest occurred after Jasper County deputies collaborated with the Hays County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Texas Rangers to execute a warrant in Buna, Texas.
The Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard explained in a social media post that the intervention aided the Hays County officials in their investigation. Found in Jasper County Jail, Dwyer is awaiting transfer to Hays County. While the fire resulted in one injury, the full extent of the damage and the motives behind the incident remain under scrutiny.
Amidst the investigation, the bar had been preparing for its final send-off. According to a post on Savage's Bar and Grill's Facebook page, which was marked by immense sorrow, the establishment planned to end its operations on July 1st, stating, "With tears and a heavy heart, we are very sad to announce that Savage’s Hill Country Bar & Grill will no longer be in business effective July 1st, 2025."
