
Chaos briefly reigned in the streets of San Rafael last Saturday morning as concerned citizens dialed into the San Rafael Police Department, reporting an unusual pedestrian, a young sea lion, on Point San Pedro Road. SRPD officers, accompanied by the San Rafael Fire Department, were dispatched to the unexpected wildlife spectacle, as detailed by the San Rafael Police Department.
The response team, including local community members who stepped in to assist, employed a variety of makeshift tools such as shields, a litter basket, and cardboard to escort the pinniped out of harm's way safely. Dubbed "Pointer" due to its location of discovery, the sea lion was directed to the relative safety of Point San Pedro Bay Park. There, it found momentary refreshment under the park's sprinklers.
