San Rafael police officers made two arrests during a traffic stop yesterday, in connection with an array of violent crimes, including a recent street robbery. According to a social media post from the San Rafael Police Department, during the stop, they discovered both a real handgun and a CO2-propelled pellet replica handgun beneath the driver’s seat.

The vehicle was identified as being associated with other crimes, and as a result, three individuals were detained. Two of the three individuals, both juveniles, were arrested following the discovery of the handguns. Their offenses included the possession of the handguns, violation of probation, and driving without a driver’s license, the tan pellet gun, which was nearly indistinguishable from a real firearm.

The San Rafael Police Department is taking active measures to combat an upsurge in violence in the Downtown and Canal Neighborhoods. They underline the importance of community cooperation in these efforts, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. "Be a good witness; if you see something, say something," the department noted.

Residents with relevant information about suspicious or criminal activities are strongly encouraged to contact the San Rafael Police. They can be contacted at (415) 485-3000, or if witnessing a crime in progress, the public should dial 9-1-1 if the crime threatens public safety. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online through the department's website.
