The renowned Scholastic Book Fair makes a much-anticipated return to the Round Rock Public Library this week, promising a selection of books that could both improve home libraries and bolster community reading initiatives. Starting from July 7 and running through July 10, the fair is not just a hub for book enthusiasts, but it's also an opportunity to support the Friends of Round Rock Public Library's efforts to fund the Summer Reading Program.
With the event kicking off on Monday, July 7, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., the selection is primed to be fresh and vast. The rest of the week offers more flexible hours, opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, and extending until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9. The final day, Thursday, July 10, offers a shorter window, from 10 a.m. to noon, for those looking to make last-minute purchases. However, it's important to note, that regular children’s programming such as Babytime, Toddlertime, Outdoor Storytime, and Preschool Storytime will be paused during the fair's run.
As reported by the City of Round Rock's official news release, the book fair is more than just a marketplace for literature – it is a chance for the community to come together in support of local youth literacy programs. This event traditionally draws crowds who not only seek to nourish their love for reading but also to give back to their community's educational endeavors.
The fair's importance to the library's summer programming is significant. While the Scholastic Book Fair replaces some of the regularly scheduled activities for the young ones, the goal of fostering a love for reading among them is ever-present. The funds raised will directly contribute to ensuring the continuity and success of the Summer Reading Program, a cause that remains crucial for not only maintaining but also growing the next generation of readers and thinkers in Round Rock.
