In a recent operation, Seattle police took a 32-year-old man into custody after a joint effort involving robbery detectives and the SWAT team. The suspect faced charges on multiple accounts including robbery, assault, and illegal firearms possession. According to the SPD Blotter, the arrest occurred this morning in South Seattle.
It all started back on May 13, when authorities responded to a shooting incident on the 900 block of Dakota Avenue South. A motorcyclist reported being confronted and shot at by the suspect who demanded his bike at gunpoint. The victim fortunately managed to escape unharmed and promptly contacted the police. He was able to quickly recognize and report the suspect, a figure already known to police from prior encounters. Officers, however, were not able to locate him.
Over the ensuing weeks, detectives meticulously surveyed the RV considered to be associated with the suspect. Their perseverance paid off when, on July 24, they moved in to execute a search warrant. The operation was detailed on the SPD Blotter, noting that when the SWAT team commanded the man to exit the RV, he attempted to secretly discard a gun. Nonetheless, the weapon was swiftly recovered by a police K9 team from the surrounding shrubbery.
The firearm discovered in the blackberry bushes was believed to be the same weapon used in the May 13 shooting and was reported stolen. While searching the RV, officers also found an additional three firearms along with ammunition. Given that the suspect is a convicted felon, his possession of these weapons constitutes a direct violation of the law. He was taken to Seattle Police Headquarters for interrogation and thereafter booked into the King County Jail on multiple charges, including first-degree robbery and assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, and having a stolen firearm.
This apprehension underscores the continued efforts of Seattle police to address violent crime and illegal firearm possession. The suspect is currently awaiting his court proceedings, and if convicted, may face a substantial period of imprisonment due to the severity of the allegations against him.
