
A second individual has been apprehended in connection with the murder of Larry D. Yantis III, which occurred last fall. The Columbus Division of Police reported via social media post that 19-year-old Montana Smallwood was arrested last Thursday, under charges of murder, following an investigation stemming from the incident on September 25, 2024.
The initial call that brought officers to the 1400 block of Burstock Rd. Came at 8:23 p.m., reporting a shooting. Yantis, at the age of 33, was one of the two victims discovered by the officers and was declared dead at the scene. The second victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to details released by the police.
Before Smallwood's apprehension, another suspect, Deaire Summerall, had been arrested and indicted for Yantis' death. No further information has been released regarding any possible connection between the two suspects or the motive behind the shooting.
