Nature enthusiasts and little explorers will need to hit pause on their sensory adventures today, folks. The popular Sensory Trail at City Centre Park's Ollie's Fun Forest is set to close for a spell—thanks to one oversized arboreal resident that's overstayed its welcome.
According to the City of St. Peters, the much-needed arboreal eviction is scheduled for tomorrow. As a result, the Sensory Trail will be off-limits from the early morning until the late afternoon, depriving hikers and nature lovers of their daytime dose of sensory input. Officials promise to have the trail ready for foot traffic by the same late afternoon, though, as long as Mother Nature cooperates.
However, all is not lost for those planning to venture to Ollie's Fun Forest that day. As they hoist the tree away—bough by bough—your kids can continue to frolic uninterrupted at the adjacent playground. The city has made it clear that safety is a top priority, so trail-goers can rest assured that the playground space will be isolated from the tree removal shenanigans.
For those already mapping out their midweek jaunt, the city encourages finding a plan B route. They are posting signage to help lost souls navigate around the temporary inconvenience, according to information from the City of St. Peters. So, before you lace up those hiking boots or buckle your little one into the stroller, double-check that your path doesn't collide with the temporary closure of the Sensory Trail—or risk the surprise detour.
