The San Francisco Police Department has made significant headway in the fight against retail theft with the recent apprehension of two suspects tied to a string of burglaries across the city. The department's dedicated Defend Against Retail Theft (DART) Organized Retail Crime Task Force, working closely with local retailers, has been at the forefront of these efforts. They methodically pieced together the clues that led to the arrests using surveillance footage and employee statements.
The SFPD DART unit, in partnership with Tenderloin Station officers and the Daly City Police Department, identified Samuel Shrimpton and Ryan Twedell as the individuals behind the alleged crimes. Through careful investigation and inter-agency collaboration, DART linked them to thefts between April and July 2025, with an estimated total value of stolen merchandise exceeding $15,000.
Shrimpton, a 28-year-old male, was arrested on charges that include six counts of second-degree burglary, eight counts of grand theft, and five counts of organized retail theft, all felonies, according to the San Francisco Police Department's news release. Twedell, at 33 years old, faces nine counts of burglary, eleven counts of grand theft, fifteen counts of organized retail theft, as well as charges for petty theft and vandalism.
The SFPD has communicated that the cases against Shrimpton and Twedell remain ongoing and active. They encourage anyone who might have additional information to contact the department. Tipsters can reach the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or send a message beginning with SFPD to TIP411.
