A 65-year-old Sorrento man has died following a collision on State Road 46 in Lake County, according to an incident report by the Florida Highway Patrol. According to ClickOrlando, the accident, which occurred around 6 p.m. yesterday near 4th Street, involved a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.
The Leesburg-News reported that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on the roadway when the Silverado, driven by a 49-year-old man from Apopka, made a left turn into his path. The motorcycle collided with the front of the truck, with tragic consequences for the rider.
Authorities, who arrived at the scene, pronounced the motorcyclist dead while the pickup driver remained unharmed and cooperated with the officials at the scene.
Having stayed at the scene, the pickup truck's driver has not been charged at this time. However, the details following the exact sequence of events leading to the motorcyclist's untimely death have yet to emerge from an authority, as per the details released by the Highway Patrol.
