
Voters in southern Coon Rapids, particularly those residing in precincts 5-4 and 5-5, have the opportunity to participate in the primary Special Election for House Seat 34B starting this Thursday, July 31. Coon Rapids City Hall will open its doors for absentee voters during its regular business hours of Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents who prefer in-person absentee voting will find additional hours available on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the primary election day set for Tuesday, Aug. 12, the polls will welcome voters from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. According to the city's announcement, those registered in precinct 5-4 should head to the YMCA to cast their vote, whereas voters from precinct 5-5 will mark their choices at Adams Elementary School. The designated voting locations having been chosen to accommodate the respective precincts.
Moving forward to the general election day for the Special Election, which falls on Tuesday, Sept. 16, the polls will again be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, for those unable to attend on the election day, absentee voting begins a bit earlier on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Coon Rapids City Hall will follow the regular schedule for absentee voting with the addition of extended hours on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the eve of the election, Monday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
