Starting Monday, the city will begin accepting applications for its Residential Composting Program. Eligible single-family households within city limits can receive a free backyard compost bin, available while supplies last.
The program's game plan is simple. It's aiming to encourage locals to recycle their food scraps and yard waste, transforming them into nutrient-dense compost to enrich their gardens. An important note for keen composters: you'll need to take care of the compost yourself, as the program doesn't include collection service.
