Residents and business owners of St. Augustine's Historic Area are getting a fresh opportunity to shape the future of Cordova Street. The City's Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has teamed up with Inspire Placemaking Collective, Inc. to seek public input on the Cordova Street Improvement project for the Historic Area Community Redevelopment Area (HACRA). They're rolling out the red carpet for city dwellers to weigh in on July 29, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in the Alcazar Room at City Hall, located at 75 King Street.
It's evident the City of St. Augustine is aiming to genuinely engage with the community – they're not just looking for bodies to fill a town hall meeting. The primary focus will strictly be to improve Cordova Street from King Street northward to the plaza near the Visitor Information Center (VIC). Attendees can expect to casually mingle, offer up their two cents, and enjoy some refreshments while they're at it. The consultation session is intended not only to present prelim design principles and ideas but also to actually hear and possibly incorporate public suggestions.
To ensure everyone's voice has the chance to be heard, those at the helm have gone digital too. A dedicated website for the Cordova Street project now exists, making it simpler for residents to submit their ideas and preferences via surveys and interactive maps. These tools are designed to easily gather and prioritize community feedback on various improvement options.
