Wet weather will dominate the forecast, with precipitation chances varying from low to high throughout the week. Today, there's a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between noon and 2 p.m., with skies expected to shift from mostly cloudy to partly sunny. Temperatures will climb to around 90°F, accompanied by a wind shift from the south to the west in the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, as evening sets in, the chance of rain decreases to a modest 20% after 4 a.m., with partly cloudy skies overhead and overnight temperatures dipping to a mild low of around 72 degrees. A light northwest breeze at 5 to 7 mph will gradually ease, becoming calm later in the night.
Sunday’s forecast mirrors Saturday’s unsettled conditions, with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, primarily after 1 p.m., disrupting what might otherwise be a partly sunny day with highs approaching 87 degrees. The north wind will remain light, around 5 mph, before shifting into a calm and variable breeze by the afternoon.
Rain is expected to continue through Friday, as per the NWS forecast. Monday will be partly sunny, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Temperatures will stay in the low 90s throughout the week, with periodic chances of rain and thunderstorms, including a 50 percent chance on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook cautions the public of "Locally heavy rainfall and isolated gusty winds" as part of today's storm potential over southeastern Missouri and southwestern Illinois. The forecast for the following days includes a continued chance of thunderstorms across different parts of the region. Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
